Ukraine: 7 facts on the Sochi Paralympics
Ukraine made its Paralympic Winter Games debut at the 1998 Nagano Games and has featured in all Games since 27 Feb 2014
The sporting year of 2015 will kick-off with the 2015 IPC Nordic Skiing World Championships in Cable, USA.
• At the Paralympic Winter Games, Ukraine has won a total of 65 medals, 15 gold, 25 silver and 25 bronze
• At the 2010 Vancouver Paralympics, Ukraine won 19 medals in total, five gold, eight silver and six bronze to finish in fifth place on the medals table
• Ukraine has won its 15 winter gold medals in just two sports, cross-country skiing and biathlon
• The country’s most successful winter Paralympian is Olena Iurkovska, who has won five gold, five silver and five bronze medals in cross-country skiing and biathlon. Sochi will be her fourth Games
• Iurkovska won one gold medal at the 2010 Vancouver Winter Paralympics, where Ukraine were spearheaded by the three gold medals by Oleksandra Kononova
• Ukraine's most successful Winter Paralympic campaign was Torino 2006, in which athletes collected seven gold medals to place the country third in the final medals table
