1.    Tell us a little about your story?

I am a Syrian refugee and I’ve been living in Greece for 10 years.  I lost my right foot and the joint of my left foot during the civil war in Syria in 2012.

2.    What are some of the challenges that you’ve faced in your life and on your journey to Paris?

The hardest moments I have faced in my life are my injury and the war in my country. My journey to Paris has been difficult over the past couple of years in trying to get all the necessary equipment to compete in triathlon which can be expensive.

3.    Can you share any personal stories that highlight how much you have overcome and how you did that?

When I landed in Greece in 2014, with no money in my pocket and sitting in a wheelchair, a Greek doctor treated me for free.  So, I started working to pay for myself to be able to get back into sports with people with disabilities, as well as to integrate into Greek society.

4.    How did you get involved in sport?

My sports journey started when I was 5, as I come from a keep sporting family.

5.    What was your biggest sporting achievement?

My biggest achievement in triathlon came at the 2023 World Triathlon Para Cup A Coruna, where I finished in fourth place.  I could have been second, but I made a mistake on the course.

6.    What has been the turning point in your life?

There have been many, but one of the important events in my life was the Rio 2016 Paralympic Games when I competed for the Refugee Paralympic Team.  It changed my life completely and opened doors and new horizons for me.

7.    What is the biggest lesson you have learned?

That nothing is impossible.  With persistence and perseverance, you can overcome even the most difficult hardships.

8.    What does it mean to you to be on the Refugee Paralympic Team in Paris?

It means the world to me!  It is a dream and an ambition to be in Paris.

9.    What are your hopes for Paris?

I hope to be in the top five at Paris 2024.

10.    What has sport meant to you and your life?

Sport has helped me integrate into society.  Sport is my whole life. I can't imagine my life without it. I can go without food for a week, but I can’t go a week without sport.
