Para dance sport, Para ice hockey, athletics and boccia are some of the must-see events in October
Several major Para competitions are still due to take place before the year ends. Here is October’s list of events.
BISFed 2017 Asia-Oceania World Open
The boccia event will take place in Bangkok, Thailand, from 2-11 October.
Chicago, USA will stage the fourth World Marathon Major of the season on 8 October.
Organised by the National Paralympic Association of Uzbekistan, the event will take place in the city of Tashkent on 9 October.
World Para Ice Hockey Paralympic Winter Games Qualification Tournament
The competition will run in Ostersund, Sweden from 9-14 October, with the top three teams qualifying for the PyeongChang 2018 Paralympic Winter Games.
IBSA Blind Football African Championships
Reigning champions Morocco will be the favourites for gold at this event, set to take place in Praia, Cape Verde, from 13-22 October, with the champions qualifying for the 2018 World Championships.
IBSA Goalball African Championships
Sharm el Sheikh, Egypt, will celebrate the regional competition between 14-24 October.
7th WTF World Para Taekwondo Championships
London, Great Britain, will host the competition, which will be held 19 October at the Copperbox Arena in Queen Elizabeth Park.
2017 Malle World Para Dance Sport Championships
Malle, located about 70km northeast of Brussels, Belgium, will host the competition from 20-23 October. It is the first time the country will held the World Championships, with around 150 athletes from 25 countries expected to compete.
2017 IWBF Asia Oceania Championships
Twelve men's teams will battle for four places at the 2018 World Championships, whilst the five women’s teams will compete for two spots in Hamburg, Germany. The competition will be held 21-29 October in Beijing, China.
Para Badminton International 2017
Penultimate Para Badminton International set to take place in Birmingham, USA, between 24-29 October.
ParaVolley Pan America Championships
Men’s and women’s sitting volleyball teams from across the continent will compete in Montreal, Canada, from 25-30 October, for spots for the 2018 World Championships.
BISFed 2017 European Regional Championships
Over 80 boccia players will compete at the second European Regional Championships in Povoa, Portugal, between 25 October-2 November.
