World Para Athletics Championships London 2017

The eighth edition of the biggest Para athletics event outside the Paralympic Games took place from 14-23 July, with around 1,300 athletes from 100 countries competing across 201 medal events. A total number of 32 world records were set, with China finishing top of the medals table, followed by the USA and Great Britain. The host nation had a Championships to remember, winning five golds on another memorable Super Saturday in the London Stadium. Tatyana McFadden, Walid Ktila and Brent Lakatos won four titles each, while Hannah Cockroft became a 10-time world champion.

Berlin World Para Swimming World Series

Forty world records fell in the German capital city as the overall winners of the World Series were decided. Italy’s Monica Boggioni took top honours in the women’s competition and Brazil’s Daniel Dias finishing top among men.

Wimbledon

There were surprise winners as Sweden’s Stefan Olsson and the Netherlands’ Diede de Grootwin their first singles Grand Slam titles.

International Triathlon Union Para Triathlon World Cup

Stefan Daniel won the sport’s first race of the season on home soil in Magog, Canada.

European gold medallists Anna Plotnikova, Alexis Hanquinquant and Lauren Steadman all win their respective classes in Italy.

UCI Para Cycling World Cup

The USA were the big winners in Emmen, the Netherlands, winning four golds and two silvers in the time trial events.

International Wheelchair and Amputee Sports Federation (IWAS) Wheelchair Fencing World Cup

Warsaw, Poland staged this event, which saw Hong Kong’s seven-time Paralympic champion Yu Chui Yee winning both the women’s epee and foil category A competitions.

International Wheelchair Rugby Federation (IWRF) 2017 European Championship

Great Britain sealed back-to-back titles following a victory over Sweden in Koblenz, Germany.

2017 International Blind Sports Federation (IBSA) Goalball Youth World Championships

Australian women’s team claims country’s first major goalball title in Hungary.

European Para Canoe Championships

Paralympic champions Emma Wiggs and Serhii Yemelianov added continental titles to their hauls in Plovdiv, Bulgaria.

2017 World Taekwondo Federation (WTF) Asian Para Taekwondo Open

Laos’ only fighter Pha Manyvong had a memorable debut, reaching the quarter-finals, Iran was named Best Male Team after winning four golds in Chuncheon, South Korea.

Three star Para equestrian competition

After recovering from illness, Singapore’s double Paralympic medallist Laurentia Tan made an outstanding comeback in Uberherrn, Germany.

2017 Tenerife European Wheelchair Basketball Championships
