Trevor Hirschfield

Trevor Hirschfield’s excellent wheelchair rugby knowledge, feisty defence and years of experience make him one of the most dangerous low-point players on the court. After being on the Canadian national team for more than a decade, Hirschfield is hungry for a major gold medal. The veteran leader will face a steep challenge after a sixth-place showing at the 2018 World Championship in Sydney, Australia.

He was co-captain of the Rio 2016 Paralympic team that fell short of the podium following a 52-50 loss to Japan. It was a disappointing outcome for the squad that carried high expectations following their 2015 Parapan Am Games title.

Hirschfield got involved with the sport thanks to Duncan Campbell, co-inventor of wheelchair rugby who was also Hirschfield’s recreational therapist after his car accident at 16 years old.
