Canada wheelchair basketball championships coming to Montreal

Montreal is also the host city for the 2013 IPC Swimming World Championships in August.

The men’s and women’s Canadian wheelchair basketball championships will take place from 12-14 April and 26-28 April, respectively, in Montreal, Canada.

The 2013 CWBL Open Finals, the men’s event, will be played out at the Centre Pierre Charbonneau and will feature Montreal native and London 2012 Paralympic gold medallist David Eng, as well as up-and-coming junior star Alex Courcelles.

Competition begins the morning of 12 April and wraps up with a medal ceremony following the final game on the afternoon of 14 April.

On the women’s side, the championships will take place in conjunction with the Defi Sportif AlterGo from 26-28 April. Senior women’s national team member Elaine Allard, a Montreal native, is expected to star at the event, which opens on the evening of 26 April and concludes with a medal ceremony late on the morning of 28 April at College Edouard-Montpetit.

Montreal is also the host city for the 2013 IPC Swimming World Championships in August.
