The first meeting of 2010 for the International Paralympic Committee (IPC) Governing Board (GB) took place today at the Paralympic Family Hotel in Whister, Canada.

The International Paralympic Committee (IPC) will once again be seeing photographers Lieven Coudenys and Rob Prezioso at the Vancouver 2010 Paralympic Winter Games.

The Paralympic Flame saw its seventh day of the relay as it reached Lytton and Hope in British Columbia. Lytton is known for hiking and rafting, with trails that go through a variety of terrain and climate conditions. A total of 15 torchbearers were in Lytton, including Andrea Drynock, who at the age of 16 became an athlete in Swimming after losing her legs in a train accident.

The International Paralympic Committee (IPC) today officially celebrated the United Nations (UN) International Women’s Day for 2010 with a special event held at the Whistler Paralympic Village Plaza in Canada.

Today, the 2010 Paralympic Torch Relay arrived in Whistler, igniting an exciting, free and family-focused community celebration featuring local and regional talent in Village Square from 15:00-18:00.

Trevor Greene, a former Canadian Forces reservist, and Paralympian Stephanie Dixon were amongst the Torch Bearers on 6 March, moving the Paralymic Flame on its fourth day through Canada, cheered by numerous fans in the streets.

On the third day of the Paralympic Torch Relay, the torch paid a visit to Canada’s economic capital, Toronto.

The Paralympic Torch Relay was in Quebec City, Canada, for its second stop on 4 March, making it the only visit to a francophone community during the route.

Visa once again will be the Presenting Partner for the Paralympic Hall of Fame (PHF) induction ceremony which will be held in Whistler, on 14 March at the Paralympic Hospitality Centre, in conjunction with the Vancouver 2010 Paralympic Winter Games. The induction ceremonies will feature the third group of Paralympic athletes to be inducted into the Paralympic Hall of Fame by the International Paralympic Committee (IPC).

Torch Relay at the Vancouver Games

As Canada gets ready to host the world’s best Paralympic winter athletes starting on 12 March, the inspirational 10-day journey of the Vancouver 2010 Paralympic Torch Relay is officially underway with the first group of Paralympic Torchbearers - one from each province and territory - gathering in the nation’s capital to create stories that will inspire the nation. More than 600 torchbearers will proudly carry the flame as the Vancouver 2010 Paralympic Torch Relay, presented by Coca-Cola and RBC and supported by the Government of Canada and the Province of BC, visits 11 communities over the next 10 days, culminating in the lighting of the Paralympic Cauldron at BC Place in downtown Vancouver on 12 March 2010.

Adecco Group UK & Ireland today announced that the International Paralympic Committee (IPC) Athlete Career Programme (ACP) would be extended to British and Irish Paralympians for the first time helping Paralympic athletes find their place in the workforce following the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games.

DB Schenker has reached an agreement to provide the International Paralympic Committee (IPC), headquartered in Bonn, Germany with Logistics, Freight Forwarding and Customs Clearance services across the Vancouver 2010 Paralympic Winter Games (12-21 March) and London 2012 Paralympic Games (August 29 to September 9) as well as other key IPC events. Both the IPC and DB Schenker have been working together since Athens 2004.

Bonn, Germany - With more than 25 broadcasters anticipated to have TV coverage from the Vancouver 2010 Paralympic Winter Games, the number of broadcasting hours and cumulated TV viewers are expected to exceed that of the Torino 2006 Paralympic Winter Games. There were 285 hours of broadcasting time during the Torino Paralympics, resulting in a cumulated audience of 1.4 billion (in 25 analyzed markets).
