“In order to offer Paralympic fans the best experience for the rest of the Games, the IPC would like to address the issues it had with the live player overnight and reset the player to be ready to go on Friday morning."

After a record-breaking 24 hours on the International Paralympic Committee’s (IPC) website, www.paralympic.org, on the first day of action at the London 2012 Paralympic Games, the livestream player will be shut down overnight in order to solve some minor technical issues and make for a better viewer experience.

On the opening day of London 2012, www.paralympic.org, received more hits in 24 hours than it did during the entirety of the Beijing 2008 Games, and because of the high demand to watch the livestream.

Craig Spence, IPC Media and Communications Director, said: “The immense number of hits to www.paralympic.org was a great boost to start the London 2012 Games, and it is fantastic to see how many people are interested into tuning into the Games worldwide.

“In order to offer Paralympic fans the best experience for the rest of the Games, the IPC would like to address the issues it had with the live player overnight and reset the player to be ready to go on Friday morning.

“I’d like to apologise to those who experienced difficulties seeing the stream this morning. Our aim is to iron out the problems overnight so that everything runs smoothly on Friday.”

During the night hours on Thursday (30 August), there will not be London 2012 videos available to view on www.paralympic.org, but content will still be available to view at the IPC’s YouTube channel at www.youtube.com/paralympicssporttv.
