• Great Britain have won 21 medals (6 silver, 15 bronze) but have yet to produce their first Paralympic champion at the Winter Games.
• At the Vancouver 2010 Paralympics, Great Britain returned home without a single medal in spite of 21 attempts at pocketing one.
• Great Britain will compete in two sports in Sochi: alpine skiing and wheelchair curling.
• The best result by a British participant at the Vancouver 2010 Paralympics was a fourth place by alpine skier Kelly Gallagher who just finished outside the podium in the women’s giant slalom visually impaired.
• Gallagher and her guide Charlotte Evans are Ones to Watch, and possibly Britain’s most promising medal hopefuls.
• Their last medal at the Winter Paralympics was claimed by their wheelchair curling team in 2006: They took home a silver.
• There are two British athletes who have collected four medals at the Winter Paralympic Games: Richard Burt and Matthew Stockford, both in alpine skiing.
• Great Britain have won a total of 562 gold medals at the Summer Paralympics, a total trumped only by the United States' 731.
• The most successful British Paralympic participant is swimmer Mike Kenny who has won 16 gold medals. He is one of only four Paralympians to win at least that many.
• At the London 2012 Games, in front of a home crowd, the British claimed 34 Paralympic gold medals, enough for third place in the overall medal table behind China (94) and Russia (36).
