US snowboarder Brenna Huckaby has been chosen as Americas ´Athlete of the Month´ for February 2018 after receiving 61 per cent of the public vote.

The 22-year-old claimed two golds at the World Cup Finals, sweeping season titles in the women’s SB-LL1 class and winning her first crystal globes in banked slalom, snowboard-cross and overall.

Two-time Big White 2017 world champion Huckaby is set to compete at her first Paralympic Winter Games in just a few days in PyeongChang, South Korea.

US snowboarder Mike Schultz, who like Huckaby won double gold at the World Cup Finals, sweeping season titles in the men’s SB-LL1 class and winning his first crystal globes in banked slalom, snowboard-cross and overall, ended second in the poll with 20 per cent.

Canadian alpine skier Mac Marcoux was also nominated.

The nominations are compiled from submissions by National Paralympic Committees (NPCs) from across the continent.
