First youth camp gets underway in Langenhagen

The first IPC Ice Sledge Hockey Youth Development Camp got underway in Langenhagen, Germany, on Thursday (29 October), with 24 participants from eight countries.

After arriving in the city on Wednesday (28 October) from Austria, Canada, the Czech Republic, Germany, Italy, South Korea, Slovakia and the USA, the players began the first day of activities with a training session on the ice at the Eishalle Langenhagen.

Thursday also featured an education session with the topic of balance and functional strength before a break and the second ice time of the day.

The camp will cover many different areas over the remaining three days, including gym training, stick handling, anti-doping and classification and will be run by four coaches from the USA, Canada and Norway.

Supported by the German Federal Ministry of the Interior, all activities will take place in the fully accessible Eishalle Langenhagen, the home of local ice sledge hockey team the Eis Lions Langenhagen and ice hockey side Hannover Scorpions.

The camp concludes on 1 November.
