Germany nominates athletes for World Champs
Paralympic Champions Heinrich Popow and Birgit Kober will lead 26-strong team to Lyon. 26 Jun 2013
Heinrich Popow won gold in the men's 100m T42 sprint at the London 2012 Paralympic Games.
Heinrich Popow highlights the team list, having shown great form in the IPC Athletics Grand Prix in Berlin earlier this month (June) and ahead of an appearance this coming weekend at the Grand Prix Final.
The German National Paralympic Committee today (26 June, 2013) announced that 26 athletes will compete at the 2013 IPC Athletics World Championships in Lyon, France.
Heinrich Popow highlights the team list, having shown great form in the IPC Athletics Grand Prix in Berlin earlier this month (June) and ahead of an appearance this coming weekend at the Grand Prix Final in Birmingham, Great Britain in the lead up to Lyon. In Berlin, he clocked a 12.12, but a tailwind factor of 2.1m/s meant it would not stand as a new world-best time.
He is the Paralympic Champion over 100m (T42) and also World Champion in the long-jump and 100m.
Birgit Kober, who won javelin F33-34 and shot-put F32-34 gold at the 2012 Paralympic Games, as well as being the reigning World Champion in both events, will join Popow in leading their team mates to France.
