The Belgian Paralympic Committee (BPC) has appointed Olek Kazimirowski to lead the nation’s delegation during the PyeongChang 2018 Paralympic Winter Games.

Kazimirowski has been the Sport and Team Manager within the BPC since January 2015, and also was Belgium’s Chef de Mission during the Rio 2016 Paralympic Games.

“The PyeongChang 2018 Paralympic Games are a unique opportunity for Belgian athletes to perform at the highest level and to add a beautiful chapter to Belgian sports history,” Kazimirowski said. “I wish them a lot of luck with their selection for these Winter Games!”

Prior to joining the BPC, Kazimirowski came from the French-speaking climbing federation (Club Alpin Belge), where he gained experience in guiding athletes in climbing and ski mountaineering. He also served as the Director of the Belgian Federation of Climbing and Mountaineering.

Belgium is looking to better their showing from Sochi 2014, when it sent two athletes. Their only winter sport medallist was Willy Mercier, who took bronze at Lillehammer 1994 in alpine skiing.
