World Para Athletics and the Para athletics community lost in June one of their strongest advocates for opportunities for athletes with high-support needs. Mohammed Baqer Almusa was a former international classifier with over two decades of contribution to the development of Para sports and Para athletics in particular, in his home country Saudi Arabia, in the Asian region and beyond.

Mohammed Baqer Almusa was directly involved in the promotion and growth of frame running as a tool to empower persons with disabilities, particularly those with severe coordination impairments.

He was also the head of the regional subcommittee of frame running in North Africa and Middle East.

“Mohamed was deeply committed to Para athletics and the wider Para sport movement. I truly appreciated his endless supply of positive energy, kind demeanour and motivation to make a difference in the lives of athletes. We have shared our deepest condolences to his family and friends as extended members of our World Para Athletics family,” said Paul Fitzgerald, Head of World Para Athletics.
