The COVID-19 coronavirus outbreak represents an unprecedented situation which has affected the lives of millions of people around the world, including Para athletes, coaches and National Paralympic Committees’ staff.
The decisions made by different governments to deal with the situation, which sometimes change day by day, have impacted a series of events.
Here below you can find an updated list of World Para Swimming events which have been cancelled or postponed due to this crisis.
Lignano Sabbiadoro 2020 World Series, Italy, 27 February-1 March – Cancelled

Sheffield 2020 World Series, Great Britain, 9-12 April
Indianapolis 2020 World Series, USA, 16-18 April – Postponed (new dates TBC)
Singapore 2020 World Series, Singapore – 1-3 May – Cancelled
World Para Swimming regrets the cancellation of all events but fully supports the decisions taken by Local Organising Committees to place as number one priority the health and well-being of all those involved.
World Para Swimming is in permanent communication with Local Organising Committees of the remaining events scheduled for the season - the Berlin World Series and the Madeira 2020 European Open Championships -, as well as with the LOCs of the cancelled and postponed events.
We are fully aware that the cancellation or postponement of events is having an impact on classification and qualification opportunities for Para swimmers ahead of the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games.
World Para Swimming is working with the International Paralympic Committee (IPC) to address these issues and potential solutions.
In order to keep Para athletes, National Paralympic Committees and other stakeholders informed of the latest situation with the coronavirus pandemic, the IPC has published a weekly update including important information and recommendation.
The latest weekly update can be found here.
