The fourth and final official site inspection for the International Olympic Committee (IOC) Evaluation Commission for the 2016 Olympic and Paralympic Games finished today in Madrid, Spain.

Composition of 2016 Evaluation Commission Announced
The Evaluation Commission which will visit the four Candidate Cities bidding to host the 2016 Olympic and Paralympic Games has been announced by the International Olympic Committee (IOC). The team will be headed by Nawal El Moutawakel, who also chaired the 2012 bidding process. The full team will include representatives from the Olympic and Paralympic Movement, with additional advisors.

2016 Candidate Cities Selected
Today, the International Olympic Committee (IOC) Executive Board accepted Chicago (USA), Madrid (Spain), Rio de Janeiro (Brazil) and Tokyo (Japan)* as Candidate Cities to host the Olympic and Paralympic Games in 2016. The cities were accepted from a total of seven Applicant Cities, which also included Baku (Azerbaijan), Doha (Qatar) and Prague (Czech Republic)*.

All 2016 Applicant Cities Return Responses
The International Olympic Committee (IOC) announced that all seven cities applying to host the 2016 Olympic and Paralympic Games have returned their Application Files, which contain their responses to the IOC Candidature Acceptance Procedure questionnaire.

2016 Cities Get More Information on Paralympics
Last week, the seven Applicant Cities for the 2016 Olympic and Paralympic Games - Baku (Azerbaijan), Chicago (USA), Doha (Qatar), Madrid (Spain), Prague (Czech Republic), Rio de Janeiro (Brazil) and Tokyo (Japan)* - attended the 2016 Applicant Cities’ Seminar at the Olympic Museum in Lausanne, Switzerland, during which the International Olympic Committee (IOC) provided advice and guidance to the cities for the months of bidding.

Applicant Cities for 2016 Games Announced
Bonn, Germany – Last week, the International Olympic Committee (IOC) announced that seven cities have been appointed by their respective National Olympic Committees (NOCs) to apply to host the 2016 Olympic and Paralympic Games. The cities, in alphabetical order, are: Baku (Azerbaijan), Chicago (USA), Doha (Qatar), Madrid (Spain), Prague (Czech Republic), Rio de Janeiro (Brazil) and Tokyo (Japan).*
