Four nominees for Americas Athlete of February 2019
The nominations for February 2019’s Americas ‘Athlete of the Month’ poll have been announced. The public are invited to vote for their winner via the Americas Paralympic Committee homepage until Monday (18 March).
Collin Cameron, Canada, Nordic skiing
Secured his first World Championships title in Prince George, Canada, in the men’s cross-country sprint sitting, and took silver in mixed relay and biathlon middle distance.
Debora Menezes, Brazil, taekwondo
Captured Brazil’s first Para taekwondo world title with a clinical 7-3 win over Uzbekistan’s Guljonoy Naimova in Antalya, Turkey.
Oksana Masters, USA, Nordic skiing
Won five world titles and six medals overall at the World Championships in Prince George, Canada, her first major competition since having two surgeries on her elbow.
Rebeca Valenzuela Alvarez, Mexico, athletics
Set an Americas record* of 13.15 in the women’s shot put F12 at the Dubai Grand Prix, breaking her own mark of 13.05 she had set at the Rio 2016 Paralympics.
Nominations are compiled from submissions by National Paralympic Committees (NPCs) from across the continent.
