Russia upend Sweden on Podolsk ice

Russia stormed to victory over Sweden and Norway skated past the Czech Republic on Tuesday (14 January) on the first day of the International Sledge Hockey Tournament in Podolsk, Russia.
Russia’s 8-1 victory against Sweden was powered by two goals from Dmitry Lisov and a pair of scores from Alexey Lysov. Andrey Dvinyaniov, Nikolay Terentyev, Igor Lomakin and Illian Volkov also scored for the host nation, while Per Kasperi netted the lone goal for Sweden.
Norway defeated the Czech Republic 2-1 with goals from Klakegg Jon Roger and Svee Stig Tore, with Michal Geier scoring for the Czechs.
The tournament runs through Thursday (16 January). All four participating teams have already qualified for the Sochi 2014 Paralympic Winter Games.
