The medals of the Geilo 1980 Paralympic Winter Games featured an engraving of a torch as its centrepiece, as well as three interlocking wheels of the International Stoke Mandeville Wheelchair Sports Federation.

Design Elements of the Medals

The Geilo 1980 medals showcase the logo of the International Stoke Mandeville Wheelchair Sports Federation in addition to the name of the Geilo 1980 Paralympic Winter Games, which was known as “2nd Olympic Winter Games for Disabled – Geilo 1980 Norway” at the time. The use of the three interlocking wheels can be traced back to the Tel Aviv 1968 Games, displayed both on the medals and the logo of the event.
