Design Elements of the Medals
The three interlocking wheels, used as the emblem of the International Stoke Mandeville Wheelchair Sports Federation at the time, are placed at the centre of the medal. The name of the Games, “Heidelberg 1972”, is engraved right below this emblem. The rim of the medal reads “XXI International Stoke Mandeville Games”.
