The Heidelberg 1972 Paralympic medals showcased the three interlocking wheels, similar to the Tel Aviv 1968 medals. 

Design Elements of the Medals 

The three interlocking wheels, used as the emblem of the International Stoke Mandeville Wheelchair Sports Federation at the time, are placed at the centre of the medal. The name of the Games, “Heidelberg 1972”, is engraved right below this emblem. The rim of the medal reads “XXI International Stoke Mandeville Games”. 

Physical Attributes of the Medals 

The medals have a diameter of 6 centimetres and a thickness of 0.4 centimetre, with the gold medal weighing 78 grams.
