British Cycling announces teams for UCI Paracycling world cups

British Cycling has today confirmed the teams they will be sending to the forthcoming UCI Paracycling Road World Cups taking place in Merano, Italy from 7-9 June and Segovia, Spain from 14-16 June.

Great Britain will be fielding a 12-strong team at the first round in Merano which includes London 2012 Paralympic Champions Mark Colbourne and David Stone. From there, the team will head to Spain where they will be joined by Programme newcomers Rhiannon Henry and Corinne Hall.

Speaking of selection, Gareth Sheppard said: “Our principle for this World Cup season was to give every road rider the opportunity to perform on the world stage prior to selection for the World Championships, and the team line-ups for the forthcoming World Cups reflect this. We’re giving every rider an international opportunity to show us what they can do.

“As well as our established team members, such as Darren Kenny and David Stone, it’s great to welcome debutantes Rhiannon Henry and Corinne Hall onto the team. Both girls had a great start to the season out at the Tour of Belgium with Corinne piloting Lora Turnham to the win, thanks to the support and team work of Rhiannon (piloted by Fiona Duncan). I’m looking forward to seeing how the girls get on at the World Cups. Overall, the riders and staff are prepared and ready to get racing in the first major international events post Paralympics.”
