ITU announces 2016 para-triathlon calendar
Races held in May in Japan and Spain will be the last events for para-triathletes to earn qualification points for Rio 2016. 10 Oct 2015

Para-triathletes will earn Paralympic qualifying points through the Yokohama and Aguilas stops, as they attempt to qualify for the Rio 2016 Paralympic Games, where para-triathlon will be held for the first time.
Following the the 2015 International Triathlon Union (ITU) World Triathlon Grand Final in Chicago, USA, the ITU has announced the schedule for the 2016 World Para-Triathlon Event (WPE) and the 2016 World Cup races.
ITU has confirmed several dates on the 2016 Para-Triathlon calendar.
2016 World Para-Triathlon Event:
19-20 March: Buffalo City, South Africa
23-24 April: Penrith, Australia
14-15 May: Yokohama, Japan (held with ITU World Triathlon Series)
14-15 May: Aguilas, Spain
4-5 June: Besancon, France
4-5 June: Strathclyde, Great Britain
25-26 June: Iseo, Italy
The Yokohama World Para-Triathlon Event will be held in conjunction with the World Triathlon Series, while a WPE race is still being discussed to be held alongside World Triathlon Gold Coast. Strathclyde is the only city to debut on the WPE calendar.
