Latin American rivals ready to face each other again at a major competition 28 Nov 2017Cuba’s Lorenzo Perez Escalona and Colombia’s Nelson Crispin are ready for another showdown, this time at the Mexico City 2017 World Para Swimming Championships.
The Latin American opponents will contest the men’s 50m and 100m freestyle S6 in one of the most exciting rivalries Para swimming has to offer.
The first time the Cuban and the Colombian swam against each other was in the heats of the 100m freestyle S6 at the London 2012 Paralympic Games, with the former qualifying for the final and Crispin being eliminated.
Their most important race to date was in the 100m freestyle S6 at Rio 2016, where Perez Escalona clocked 1:04.70 to become Cuba’s first swimming Paralympic champion ever, while Crispin sealed his third silver at the Games thanks to a time of 1:05.37.
