PyeongChang 2018 Paralympians make up six-athlete shortlist for March
Nordic skiers Brian McKeever and Mark Arendz (CAN), Cristian Ribera (BRA) and Oksana Masters (USA), snowboarder Carles Codina (ARG) and alpine skier Nicolas Bisquertt (CHI) are the six shortlisted Para athletes for the Americas ‘Athlete of the Month’ poll for March 2018.
The public are invited to vote for their winner via the Americas Paralympic Committee homepage and have time to do so until Friday (13 April).
The nominations are:
Brian McKeever, Canada, cross-country
Won three golds and one bronze, taking his overall medal tally to 17 medals, including 13 golds, to confirm his status as Canada’s most decorated Winter Paralympian.
Carles Codina, Argentina, snowboard
Achieved Argentina’s best result at a Winter Olympic or Paralympic Games by finishing eighth in the men’s snowboard-cross SB-LL2.
Cristian Ribera, Brazil, Nordic skiing
PyeongChang 2018´s youngest Paralympian achieved Brazil´s best result at a Winter Olympic or Paralympic Games after finishing sixth in the men´s cross-country long distance sitting.
Mark Arendz, Canada, Nordic skiing
Claimed six medals overall, including one gold, two silvers and three bronze and was the Canadian flagbearer for the Closing Ceremony.
Nicolas Bisquertt, Chile, alpine skiing
Secured ninth place in the men’s slalom sitting, Chile’s best performance at a Winter Olympic or Paralympic Games.
Oksana Masters, USA, Nordic skiing
Overcoming an injury to her right arm, Masters won five medals (two golds, two silvers and one bronze). She leaves PyeongChang as the most decorated US athlete in Para Nordic history.
The nominations are compiled from submissions by National Paralympic Committees (NPCs) from across the continent.
