Meet Alpy – the Tignes-Albertville 1992 Paralympic Winter Games Mascot

Alpy is the cheerful mascot of the Tignes-Albertville 1992 Paralympic Winter Games. It represented the joy of the Games and welcomed everybody to the events from 25 March to 1 April 1992.

Get to Know: The Design and Symbolism

Created by French artist Vincent Thiebaut, Alpy’s design was inspired by the shape of Grande Motte, a mountain that is part of the Massif de la Vanoise in Tignes, France. The Paralympic mascot is using a mono-ski to highlight its athleticism. The colours white, green and blue were used in Alpy’s design to symbolise purity, hope and nature.
