Greg Hartung Member of 2016 Co-ordination Commission

Bonn, Germany – Yesterday, the composition of the IOC Co-ordination Commission for the Rio 2016 Olympic and Paralympic Games was officially announced. 14 Jan 2010 By IPC

Also being a member of the former IOC Evaluation Commission for the Rio 2016 Games, Greg Hartung, IPC Vice President, will be one of the members of a multi-national team of 17 men and women responsible for assisting the Rio 2016 Organizing Committee for the Olympic and Paralympic Games during the seven years leading up to the Games. The commission will also act as a link between the IOC, the International Paralympic Committee (IPC), the Organizing Committee, the International Federations and the National Olympic and Paralympic Committees.

Said Mr. Hartung: “I am delighted to be chosen for the Co-ordination Commission for the Rio 2016 Games. There is significant responsibility serving on the Commission as IPC representative but it is truly a privilege in every sense and I am looking forward to contribute with all my knowledge and experience."

The IOC Co-ordination Commission, led by Chairperson Nawal El Moutawakel, will do its first full Co-ordination Commission meeting in 2010.

The members of the IOC Co-ordination Commission are: Nawal El Moutawakel (MAR), Beatrice Allen (GAM), Sergey Bubka (UKR), Richard L. Carrion (PUR), John D. Coates, AC (AUS), Timothy Tsun Ting Fok (HKG), Alex Gilady (ISR), Greg Hartung (AUS), Patrick Joseph Hickey (IRL), Nicole Hoevertsz (ARU), Nat Indrapana (THA), Willi Kaltschmitt Lujan (GUA), Gunilla Lindberg (SWE), Julio César Maglione (URU), Alexander Popov (RUS), Francesco Ricci Bitti (ITA) and Ching-Kuo Wu (TPE).
