Over 1,500 Athletes Expected at Parapan American Games

With just two months to go until the Parapan American Games in Guadalajara, Mexico, it has been announced that 1,444 athletes, including 750 in wheelchairs, from 25 countries have confirmed they will be attending the Games.

Brazil has the largest delegation with 387 personnel, followed by hosts Mexico with 307. The United States has 295, Venezuela boasts a 252 strong team and Colombia has 233 members, including officials, Chefs de Mission and delegates.

Of the 13 sports that make up the Parapan American Games, Athletics will have the largest number of competitors with 412 athletes, followed by Swimming with 204 and Wheelchair Basketball with 186 competitors.

There will be 1,004 male and 440 female athletes at the Parapan American Games.

The Parapan American Games Guadalajara 2011 is scheduled November 12 to 20 and will include the sports Athletics, Wheelchair Basketball, Boccia, Cycling, Football 5, Goalball, Judo, Weightlifting, Swimming, Table Tennis, Wheelchair Tennis, Archery and Seated Volleyball.
