USA Names Women’s Wheelchair Basketball Team for London 2012

The defending Paralympic champions in women’s Wheelchair Basketball have named their team for the London 2012 Paralympic Games.

Team USA finalized its squad of 12 this week after hosting a tryout camp at Lakeshore Foundation in Birmingham, Alabama.

Members of the team include:

• Darlene Hunter

• Mary Allison Milford

• Jennifer Chew

• Alana Nichols

• Becca Murray

• Jennifer Poist

• Sarah Binsfeld

• Sarah Castle

• Desiree Miller

Rose Hollermann

• Andrea Woodson-Smith

• Natalie Schneider

Gail Gaen and Jennifer Ruddell will be called upon as reserves if anyone gets injured or cannot participate. The team will be led by head coach David Kiley and assistant coaches Matt Buchi and Dan Price.

In addition to winning gold at the Beijing 2008 Paralympic Games, USA recently claimed the top prize at the 2011 Parapan American Games in Guadalajara, Mexico.

Wheelchair Basketball will be one of 20 sports featured at the London 2012 Paralympic Games.
