Leading experts in Paralympic Sport have gathered in Bonn, Germany for the fifth VISTA conference organized by the International Paralympic Committee (IPC).

Speaking on the second day of the International Paralympic Committee’s VISTA Conference, Yves Vanlandewyck, Professor of Rehabilitation Sciences at the Catholic University of Leuven, told delegates that a more multi-disciplinary approach to classification research needs to be taken.

The International Paralympic Committee (IPC) has announced that the programme for the fifth VISTA conference will focus on giving a better understanding of the IPC Classification Code, and will tackle how Paralympic Sport can continue to promote opportunities for sports participation and have a positive impact on athlete’s well-being.

The official deadline for abstract submissions for the VISTA 2011 Conference held in September 2011 in Bonn, Germany, has been extended to 28 February 2011.

The International Paralympic Committee (IPC) welcomes all National Paralympic Committees (NPCs) to apply for hosting the VISTA 2011 Conference.

The IPC Sports Science Committee (SSC) met in Vancouver with local scientific committee members last week, furthering the plans for the scientific programme of the VISTA 2009 Conference. The conference will take place in the city from 22 to 26 March 2009 and will be under the theme of “Paralympic Legacy and Innovation”.

Bonn, Germany - Today, the International Paralympic Committee (IPC) announced that the fifth VISTA Conference will be held in Vancouver, Canada, from 22 to 26 March 2009. The Conference will follow the Chef de Mission Seminar for the Vancouver 2010 Paralympic Winter Games, held in Vancouver from 19 to 21 March 2009.
