Buenos Aires 2013 Youth Parapan American Games
Buenos Aires, Argentina, hosted the third edition of the Youth Parapan American Games in 2013, with 1,000 athletes from 16 countries competing in 10 sports: athletics, boccia, football 7, goalball, judo, powerlifting, swimming, table tennis, wheelchair basketball and wheelchair tennis.
The Games took place between 13-20 October, with Brazil topping the medals table with 209 medals overall, including 102 golds, 65 silvers and 42 bronzes. Mexico and Argentina followed them onto the podium.
Many of the athletes who competed at Buenos Aires 2013 later won medals at the Rio 2016 Paralympic Games.
Brazilian track athlete Veronica Hipolito claimed multiple medals in the Argentinian capital city and then went on to take one silver and one bronze at her home Paralympics. Her compatriot Mateus Evangelista took three athletics golds in Buenos Aires and a silver in Rio.
