The final day of the shooting Para sport competition will witness one Paralympic champion being awarded at the Chateauroux Shooting Centre, the premier shooting sport facility in central France, on 5 September (Thursday).

Skelhon in spotlight

In the only final of the day - R6 - mixed 50m rifle prone SH1 final – with Great Britain’s Matt Skelhon, a veteran with multiple Paralympic medals, in the spotlight at the Chateauroux Shooting Centre. 

Skelhon will be eager to win his first Paralympic gold in the category after clinching the title at the Lima 2023 World Championships. He is the bronze medallist at London 2012 and gold medallist in R3-mixed 10 m air rifle prone SH1 at the Beijing 2008 Games.

Korea’s Jinho Park is the current world record holder in the category on 252.3, achieved at Changwon 2023 World Cup, and will be eager to live up to his status at the Paris 2024 Paralympics.

Among others to watch out for in Paris are Paralympic and European champion Natascha Hiltrop from Germany and Sweden’s Anna Benson, the Tokyo 2020 Paralympics and Cheongju 2018 Worlds silver medallist.  

Slovakian legend and defending champion Veronika Vadovicova will be the missing out of action in the category.
