The Design Elements of the Medals

The medals feature an engraving of the Atlanta 1996 Paralympic Games logo at the centre, next to stylised flames.  The name of the Games, “1996 Atlanta Paralympic Games”, encircles half of the rim.

The reverse side of the medals have “1996 Atlanta Paralympic Games” in braille to improve accessibility for people with vision impairments, along with the three Tae-Geuks, the emblem of the Paralympic Movement from 1994 to 2004.

The colour of the medals’ ribbon varied depending on the colour of the medal - dark blue for gold, purple for silver and teal for bronze.
