Two Paralympic gold medals will be awarded on day two of shooting Para sport competitions at the Chateauroux Shooting Centre, the premier shooting sport facility in central France, on 31 August (Saturday).

Chao searching for a fourth title

The R1 - men's 10m air rifle standing SH1 final will open the second day’s action following the morning qualification events. Chinese legend Dong Chao will be the favourite to win his fourth Paralympic title in Paris. He is also the Sydney 2019 Worlds champion.

Earlier, this year, Chao has shared his plans to follow the process and focus on my every shot to win another gold in his fifth Paralympic Games. 

Another seasoned star Jinho Park, from South Korea, will be also in line-up hoping to win his first Paralympic gold. Park is the world record holder (250.5) from Changwon 2023 World Cup and the bronze medallist at Tokyo 2020.

The second event of the day - P2 - women's 10m air pistol SH1 final should be a closely contested event between Iran’s Sareh Javanmardi and Aysel Ozgan of Turkey.

Javanmardi is the Tokyo 2020 and Rio 2016 Paralympic gold medallist while Ozgan is the Al Ain 2022 and Lima 2023 World champion and holds the world record (240). 

The Iranian great also went on to win a silver medal at the Asian Para Games 2022 in Hangzhou, her first competition after giving birth to a baby boy last year.

Ozgan’s compatriot Ayşegül Pehlivanlar should also be in the mix, keen to win her first Paralympic gold after her silver medal at Tokyo 2020 and bronze at Rio 2026 Games.
